Math - In math, students began their studies in the measurement unit. They enjoyed completing a scavenger hunt in and around the school, which had them using a ruler to measure various items in both millimeters and centimeters. Students will continue their learning in this portion of the curriculum next week as we explore area by measuring in square units. 4A and 4B students are reminded to complete the "Measurement" task (both front/backsides) for homework this weekend. Science - In science, students completed an experiment involving celery stalks in class which demonstrated how plants get water from their roots all the way to their leaves. 4A and 4B's learned that the tiny tubes inside the stem (called xylem) draw the water up from the roots like a straw by a process called capillary action. Below are some photos from our experiment! Freeze Kids Comic Books dropped into Nose Creek School this week to offer a cartooning session with our grade fours (see photos below). If your child would like to learn more about the how to draw books or cartooning, here is the link: fkcb.ca Magazine/Cookie Dough Fundraising Food Trucks - NCS's Kodiaks sure enjoyed the yummy food offered by the Food Trucks in our parking lot this week (see photos below). From poutine to lemonade, cookie dough to cotton candy... it was tough for our students to choose what to purchase! Many thanks to Ms. Bennett for organizing this amazing fundraiser for our school. Bowling Field Trip - Grade Four students travelled to Bowling Depot in the NE of Calgary to enjoy a morning of lane time on Friday (see photos below). It was a wonderful outing and many students said it was "the best field trip ever!" Many thanks to Ms. Gill for volunteering her time to attend and also to the PE team for organizing the trip.
