The countdown to summer break is on! I cannot even believe we only have four full days left at NCS! I hope you enjoy them, Kodiaks! This week in math, students continued their learning in the 2D/3D shapes unit. They studied and explored acute, right and obtuse triangles, congruent figures, as well as solids and polygons. We will continue our last couple lessons in this unit on Monday/Tuesday. In science, students are beginning to wrap up their learning in the Plant Growth and Changes unit. They enjoyed watching and discussing many topics presented in the Eye Witness Plant video, and learned many facts about celebrations from around the world that are based on plants, weapons and defense mechanisms that plants have, as well as dandelions and their many uses. Students are currently working on their final task for this unit, which will be an entry in their creative journal responding to this prompt: Pretend you are a plant that is going to be destroyed to clear land for a shopping mall. Write a letter to the editor of your local paper explaining why you shouldn’t be destroyed. Remember, you need to convince the town residents of your value. Students have continued to work on their ABC Year End Project. They should have the entire project pretty much finished up for Tuesday, as we'll only have time to put a few finishing touches on things before the presentations on Wednesday. Good luck! Grade Four students participated in NCS's Annual Multicultural Festival on Friday as part of their studies in Humanities.
