Updates for 4F
MathThis week, we took a closer look at our accomplishments in learning decimals. Students have been working on their decimal check-in booklets and we will be taking time to review math skills such as multiplication and fractions as we move forward. Students can use prodigy or other math websites to build their math skills, and I would also encourage our class to practice their multiplication math facts out loud, as this will help to strengthen their mental math skills. Science - Plants!
Swimming Field Trip ends - normal classroom resumesPlease return Taste of the Arts forms - see Ms. Patterson to get an extra copy if you need it!HumanitiesThis week, we explored what it means to be a community and how Alberta became a province. In the process, students generated ideas on what names would represent our classroom and the people who are part of this community. Our class voted to decide on one name that represented us and re-named our classroom community "Lil Buffalo", which acknowledges Alberta's history (decreased buffalo population in Alberta after European contact) and their own energetic personalities. Please encourage your students to continue using persuasive writing and speaking at home. Talking about opinions on various topics and addressing why they think or feel that way will help them to build stronger communication skills as we move forward this year. Have a great weekend - and don't forget to read!
Sincerely, Ms. Patterson and 4F
