You need to have your police information check (complete with the vulnerable sector check), but there are no additional forms to fill out, as the field trip is at the school. Please email Ms. Patterson if you are able to help out! Simple Machines Quiz - Tuesday Feb. 26Students have a study guide and their research projects to help them review simple machines. They will have to know:
Humanities - Fur Trade
MathematicsWe have been working on understanding area and perimeter Area is the size of a surface, measured in square units. For example: square centimeters (cm²), square kilometers (km²), or square units (unit²). Perimeter is the total distance around an object, measured in units such as centimeters (cm), kilometers (km), or units. We have also been looking at how we can use multiplication and addition to help us solve problems about area and perimeter. Science - Inclusive Playground ProjectOur inclusive playground project is really starting to pick up energy and speed - we have been interviewing adults to see what they would like to have in an inclusive playground, and we will have time on Friday to make observations on playgrounds that already exist in our community. Students need to have all of their interviews and observations done for Monday's class. We will be building our models soon, so please send thin cardboard (such as cereal boxes), and plastic recyclables (rinsed yogurt containers or bottles) to school for the class to use. Have a great weekend, everyone - and don't forget to read!
Sincerely, Ms. Patterson and 4F

ScienceThis week, we continued our explorations of simple machines in closer details. We read an informative article about gears to deepen our research skills and understanding of wheel and axle machines. We were also able to experiment with levers to understand how adjusting the fulcrum of a levers can help us to accomplish different tasks. HumanitiesWe have been continuing our learning about First Nations groups in Alberta. We have combined our understanding of traditional ways of living with writing to help us tell stories about the past. They have used a self-editing checklist and a peer-editing checklist to help them find ways to improve their writing as they have moved through their first and second drafts. Their good copies are due Monday. Students were also able to work as groups to collaborate and combine research tasks to make a master facts sheet for the different First Nations groups that have lived in Alberta.
