Students have been working on a project in class that reinforces the vocabulary we have been working on, namely classroom objects. Students are making “un sac a dos” (a backpack) and drawing six different supplies inside while incorporating numbers as well. They also need to write a sentence listing two items that can be found in a classroom. They will glue this written paragraph in French on the back of their backpack. When finished, they will present their final product to the class. Students will have the next few classes to work on it before it is sent home to be finished and/or practiced for their presentation.

French Unit Quiz - La Salle de Classe - Students are encouraged to take home their blue French duo tangs to study from. Be familiar with the contents of the French picture dictionary and the presentation about the backpack. The quiz comprises three parts: fill in the blank, matching and listening. In class students are learning about vocabulary for elementary school supplies, classroom supplies and classroom furniture in written form and through speaking. We have been practicing how to describe a backpack and classroom through modeled text. Students created a sac à dos (backpack). They drew typical school supplies that one would find inside a a backpack. Here is an example of what the backpack looks like: With guidance, students wrote a short script introducing themselves and talking about the types of items inside their backpack. They used the phrase "il y a . . . " (there is/are). This week and last week students have been doing stand-up presentations in front of the class to show their back packs.
4C & 4D will have a quiz next week on the vocabulary we have been learning over the past few weeks, namely places found in a school, and classroom objects & supplies. Students do not need to memorize spellings, they just need to recognize the word & what it means. A list of the vocabulary is below.
Students have started working on our next unit, which is learning the places found inside a school. They will also be learning and practicing vocabulary associated with classroom objects and school supplies in the next few weeks.
