Intensive French is a curriculum specific method of teaching French as a second language at the beginner level. It is taught using the methodology of oral first, literacy second, and writing third. Each unit includes mini-projects and final projects that include all learning styles. This program is highly interactive; we incorporate a hands-on learning approach to language development. By the end of the program, students should be able to speak at the basic level in an oral evaluation. Students will complete an Intensive part of the program in which French, Math, Physical Education and options are the only classes the students will participate in. Students will complete Science, Social Studies and English during the non-intensive part of the program.
We begin the Intensive portion with the unit “L’école” and “Moi et Ma Famille” (school, myself and my family). The final project consists of a family scrapbook. The second unit is on “Mon alimentation” (Food). The students will express food choices and will present a restaurant server/client scenario as an oral presentation. The third unit is on “Les vêtements” (clothing) and this unit includes a fashion show. The remaining units are completed throughout the non-intensive portion of the program: “Les sports et passe-temps” (sports, pastimes and hobbies) and “La musique” (music). Nose Creek School is full of very talent students across all grades. NCS has created a Kodiak Spirit award for our outstanding students. This is an award to recognize the hard work students are doing both in school and in their extra-curricular activities. If you are interested in sharing the amazing things you do that represent Kodiak Spirit (service, pride, inspire, respect, integrity and tenacity) please submit a short description to your homeroom class. There will be a draw by the Grade 8 leadership team every month or so. Meaning if you had an amazing hockey tournament, played a beautiful piano concert or painted a wonderful piece of art, provide a short write up of your accomplishment can be displayed in our Kodiak Trophy case. Looking forward to hearing all the great accomplishments our Grade 4s are doing.
Congratulations and a job well done to Grade 4 Drawing Club members! I had so much fun working with you over the past few months. - Mrs. Ross

The order forms will be coming home with your child soon and purchasing a coupon book represents a great way to support Nose Creek School. When placing orders, please have cheques made out to FANS. **The last day to order Action Pack coupon books will be March 18th.
